The Aaron English Band

       Aaron English is a Seattle based songwriter and leader.  The six-piece band features piano, keys, programming and assorted ethnic instruments. The style is rock, but cosmopolitan: “world beat” in the vein of Paul Simon, Peter Gabriel and Sting.  The live show features epic original music combined with modernized versions of folk songs from around the world. The emphasis is on blending the music of diverse traditions-Middle Eastern and West African drum ensembles, Mexican mariachi music, flamenco, Polynesian slack-key guitar, belly-dancing, medieval European folksongs-with electronics and American folk and Rock. The band is currently a finalist in Atlantic Records Soul City Café Music Quest.  (The Winner will be rewarded a ten city stint as the opening act for Jewel’s 2003 tour.)
