JULY 4, 2002 FROM 1:00 PM TO 2:30 PM ON THE
COMMENCEMENT PARK STAGE
Pianist,
flutist, composer and arranger Scott Cossu brings his unique
eclectic style to Freedom Fair.
With influences as diverse as western classical and
native Andean, it’s hard to categorize or even describe
his music. When
asked Cossu says, “its like Chopin, lots of complicated
stuff going on, but with a simple melody.
I like to use my background in jazz and rhythm &
blues, or my many years of classical training.
It depends on my mood.
My first love has always been world music.
I have been inspired by my teachers from Sudan,
Thailand, China, Rumania, India and Ecuador.” Scott’s work has produced nine successful albums that have taken him on tour around the world and earned him top slot in radio and record charts. The latest recording projects will include a fusion of classical and jazz styles and also a recording of what he defines as his favorite hobby, Ac Barrelhouse and Boogie. Cossu will perform with flute and percussion. Steve Cossu
