The Christopher Gross Ensemble

 

PERFORMS AT THE TACOMA FREEDOM FAIR

JULY 4, 2001 FROM 1:00 PM TO 3:00 P.M.

ON THE COMMENCEMENT PARK STAGE

The Christopher Gross ensemble will perform instrumentals in the styles of jazz fusion, Latin, Rock, Funk, Samba and Soca at Tacoma’s Freedom Fair this Fourth of July on the Commencement Park Stage from 1 to 3 p.m.

Gross formed the band with seasoned musicians in 1997 performing their up-tempo, precise, often complex, but always-accessible sounds throughout the Puget Sound.  They have performed at a variety of festivals, fairs and clubs including The Vault in Tacoma, The Taste of Edmonds, The Art Bar, The Edmonds Arts Fest, The Capitol Lakefair, The Taste of Tacoma, and many other locations. 

The ensemble consists of Christopher Gross, Christopher Welch, Christopher Monroe, David Pascal, and Jeffrey Sick.  For the Fourth of July performance, Brian Olendorf will be filling in for Chris Welch on the keyboard.

“My music encapsulates technical precision with artistic freedom and diversity, said Christopher Gross. “We are excited to present our music at Tacoma’s Freedom Fair this Fourth of July.”

Christopher Gross, the bandleader, has an extensive background in music ranging from fusion jazz to rock and everywhere in between.  Throughout the 80’s Gross performed in the choir of St. Alphonsus Church in Ballard and at St. James Cathedral in Seattle.  He was recently the tenor section leader in the Pacific Northwest Chamber Chorus.

The Christopher Gross Ensemble released their CD “Hit The Mark” which debuted in 1999.  The CD has great instrumental songs including “Funky Monkey”, “Means End”, and the Title Song.  The CD is available for purchase at the Fair, through e-mail, Bud’s Jazz Records in Pioneer Square and Kennelly Keys in North Seattle. 

The Ensemble invites you to listen to their up-tempo sounds this Fourth of July at Tacoma’s Freedom Fair.
