Blues Redemption

Blues Redemption has proven they are a mainstay in the Pacific Northwest, having played all across the state from Port Townsend into Oregon and east of the mountains.

The South Sound Blues Association sponsored them in 2010 on a trip to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee after winning its local competition.

The group consists of Bill Barner, Joe Hendershot, Doug Skoog and Mark Riley. This veteran lineup of award winning musicians has an impressive history, having played with renown performers including Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, James Cotton, Sam Andrew of Big Brother and the Holding Company and RB Greaves to name a few. Individually they have played with countless local big names too numerous to mention.

Doug has won the Washington Blues Society Best of the Blues award for piano. Mark has won Washington Blues Society Best of the Blues awards for Blues Songwriter and Guitarist as well as many others. Billy won the Atlas Cole Memorial Summy Award presented by the Tacoma Music Foundation and was nominated for the Chris Leighton Blues Drummer Award in 2011 as well as several other distinctions. Joe’s solid bass playing has helped take three different band lineups to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee.

The band’s diversity and experience serve them well as they appeal to a broad cross section of music lovers. Their blues shuffles, boogie woogie, rumba, swing and straight ahead blues and rock beats give dancers and listeners equally, something to cheer about. They are warmly received everywhere they play.
