James King and the Southsiders

"Our music," as described by band leader James King, "is Texas Roadhouse Blues, Juke Joint Boogie Woogie and real, live, party music."

Formed seven short months ago, JAMES KING & the SOUTHSIDERS has emerged astonishingly fast as one of the premier blues acts in the state. They were nominated for and subsequently won a B.B. (best in blues) Award by The Washington Blues Society in the "Best New Band 2011" category at their annual awards show in April. The mercurial and multi-talented Jim King describes his role as lead vocals, blues harmonica, dirty sax and party conductor. The band features the extraordinary playing of Arlin Harmon on piano, organ and lead vocals, Steve Blood on electric blues guitar, David Bruce on bass and "Sweet" Billy Spaulding on drums and vocals.

Seasoned veteran professionals all, the obvious chemistry between them promises good things to come.
