Rafael Tranquilino was born in 1981 in Mexico City to a musician family: brother, uncles, cousins and father. The first instrument that he learned was the piano, at age 5. Influenced by his dad, he decided to play the guitar, bass, drums and sing when he was 9 years old. He now plays different kinds of music such as blues, Funk, soul, rock, jazz, fusion, metal, grunge, ska, latin, instrumental and more. He studied composition, harmony, jazz, fusion and progressive blues at the music school ESCAM in Mexico City, then studied from a music teacher at the G.MARTELL University of Music in Mexico City.
Rafael has played in many jazz and blues festivals such as the INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL CERVATINO of Guanajuato, Mexico (Stage Cancun) with his own band RAFAGA, of which he was the leader with Valeria Britto on vocals. He has also been the bandleader, pianist, guitarist and director of his own jazz band Macbeth with the line up of Hugo Briones (guitar), Raymundo Gomez (drums) and his brother Adrian Tranquilino on the bass. They performed at places such as C.N.A (Centro Nacional de las Artes).
Rafael was the leader, singer, guitarist and composer of the amazing rock band BALANZE: Adrian Tranquilino (bass) and Adrian Gomez (drums), and Balanze. It was recognized as one of the best rock bands in town. He also played with the famous blues and rock singer BABY BATIZ at different festivals of blues, SINDICATO DE MUSICA (the most important foundation of music in Mexico) and more.
