Why do I Volunteer to Serve on the Commission?: “Doug is an independent contractor who serves in the traditional role of an executive director of a non-profit organization but without the salary or benefits associated with employees. Doug has devoted his time, expertise and personal funds to keep the event solvent during tough times and to help the Tacoma Freedom Fair grow into one of the ten ‘World’s Best’ fireworks events!” The Tacoma Events Commission strives to keep expenses low and dedicates a high percentage of revenue raised to the programs and services that serve its’ mission. Doug has demonstrated a commitment to the mission to serve this community. A cumulative audience of over three million people has taken home memories of a wonderful 4th of July during the years Doug has dedicated to this community event.
