Performing
at the Tacoma Freedom Fair Jeff Kashiwa is the Smooth Jazz Stage headliner. He was born, raised and is currently living in Seattle. Kashiwa primed himself for his eventual solo career by endearing himself to smooth jazz fans worldwide as a member of The Rippingtons from 1989 to 1999. During breaks from the road and studio, he paved the way for later success with his first solo album, “Remember Catalina” and its follow-up, “Walkamile.” While working on his music degree at Long Beach State, he hit the road for a while with the ska/reggae/R&B outfit The Untouchables, which played MTV's first Spring Break. Over the years, as Kashiwa has studied, performed and recorded music, he has gradually made adjustments to his style. “As I have matured as a sax player, I have learned that I don’t have as much to prove, so I can just be myself,” Kashiwa said. “There is more of an ease and effortlessness to the process since I learned to surrender and relax my ego. All I can do is be who I am.” For more information please visit www.JeffKashiwa.com |
