at the TACOMA FREEDOM FAIR
July 4, 2001 FROM noon to 2:00 PM On the MARINE PARK STAGE The cutest children in town
will be dancing up a storm at the Freedom of July Freedom
Fair. These
young kids starting at pre-school and youth level dance are
part of the Metro Parks Dancers where they learn their
routines in an encouraging family environment. The
young dancers will present tap dance and ballet routines as
well as display some tumbling skills.
Velma Wright, who has been involved with Metro Parks
dance for 18 years, instructs these dancers once a week in a
dance combination class titled “Footloose”. The 15 to 20 kids that will be representing the
“Footloose” classes will be promoting the Metro Parks of
Tacoma Lessons that are being offered at the South Park
Center as well as Titlow Lodge Community Center.
The
older performers will perform a ballet to
‘Colors of the Wind’ from Pocahontas and tap
dance to ‘A spoon full of sugar’ and ‘Axel F’.
The little ones will start with a song and dance of
‘Never Smile to a Crocodile’ from Peter pan and dance a
ballet routine to Winnie the Pooh.
They will then combine for a ‘Big sister and Little
sister’ number. There
will also be a fabulous tumbling exhibition by Naomi Smith
and Patricia Duell; the tumbling leads. For more
