“The
King of Pop for the Northwest may very well be Jim Basnight."
The Montana
Kaimin 2002 “Jim
Basnight has certainly covered a whole lot of ground over
the past 20 years, creating a body of work dripping with
quality and excitement. Unlike most performers, he can’t
be stereotyped, as each of his records offers something new
and different." Rock Beat International, April
2000 “Uniformly
fun rootsy, power pop music…for the most part working the
same territory as some of the great power pop bands of the
mid 80's. Jangly, with a hint of psych and roots twang…a
consistent band."
Shredding Paper 2002 “Strong
melodies, fun lyrics, and bright, sunny arrangements. ” Lexicon,
1999

Released November 2000 by Pop the Balloon, French
record label: Seattle-New
York-Los Angeles: Jim Basnight and The Moberlys
"Fans of the
Moberlys who are unfamiliar with this material are in for a
big surprise. Fans of timeless rock are in for perhaps the
bigger treat." George Makovic, Rock
Beat International, Winter 2001/2002 "A collection of mostly unreleased studio
sessions from the 1980's proves that Basnight's lack of recorded
success was largely a matter of record company ignorance."
J.R. Higgins, January 2002
Backfire "Overall, the band shows itself surprisingly adept at wrapping a number of different styles around its no-nonsense core." Rock Beat International, Winter 2001/2002
