PERFORMS AT THE TACOMA FREEDOM FAIR JULY 4, 2000 FROM 2:00 PM TO 10:00 P.M. ON THE JOHNNY'S OLD TOWN DOCK STAGE The Northwest's three-time national finger-style guitar finalist, Marvin McDonald, is bringing his fast, fearless and magical music to Tacoma's Freedom Fair. McDonald, nationally a consistently top-ranked finger-style guitarist, is one of the musical treasures of the Northwest. His playing alternates from magical and mesmerizing to playful, and his true story classic, Hair Song, always has the audience rolling in the aisles. A self-described disciple and student of the legendary finger-style virtuoso Michael Hedges, McDonald has played all of the big Northwest festivals from Northwest Folklife to Bumbershoot, he's even played the late Kingdome as well as appearing on KIRO TV, and a variety of radio stations across the country. Those interested in sampling McDonalds music can visit his website at www.fingerpicking.com for a taste of Hendrix and Hedges, as well as some traditional Irish and original music. In between competing at the national fingerstyle guitar championships in Winfield, Kansas, where McDonald has been a winner several times, he is a bus driver extraordinaire for Metro. Whether its a lilting Irish jig, a high-flying acoustic Hendrix riff, or a Hedges classic tune, don't miss Marvin McDonald at his best....live. |
