The Michal Miller Band took the Tacoma blues scene by storm in 2006 when they won the South Sound Blues Association’s 2007 Journey to Memphis Competition. Since then they have consistently pleased audiences with power-packed performances.
Preston Miller, lead vocalist and guitarist, with his strong blues voice and tasty guitar licks, has immersed himself in blues since he was a teenager. Dan Michal is the band’s keyboard player. He’s also an accomplished harmonica player, which adds an extra rich texture to the bluesy style of the band. Joe Hendershot has an impressive resume as bassist for numerous local bands. He drives the rhythm, along with the band’s latest addition, drummer John Michael Colvin. Colvin is fresh off a two-year performance tour of Sweden, doing a tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughn.
The Michal Miller Band performs their own renditions of blues classics by Muddy Waters, Ray Charles, Junior Wells, Willie Dixon and many others, as well as original compositions.
